In 1 Timothy 3:1-7 the apostle Paul lists the qualifications for elders. Once a man becomes an elder, his responsibilities include teaching, leading, praying, and ordaining other elders.

• Strengthening families.
  
• Attending to special needs
  
• Having Communion and baptism -  remind the congregation of Christ's death and resurrection
  
• Promoting holy living. Matt. 5:13-14
